Smackdown

Theta's main philanthropy is Smackdown, a mud volleyball tournament held every spring. Teams are made up of other sorority members, fraternity members, and students from around campus. Teams squared off across two mud volleyball courts and play for the chance to win prizes. Last year, Kappa Alpha Theta teamed up with FIJI to help plan and run the tournament and get to know other members of the Greek community.

We switched Smackdown from regular volleyball to mud volleyball for the first time last spring. The responses were generally positive. :)

Grill Off

Grill Off is a philanthropy that we started this past fall semester. The idea for Grill Off was in part of the reality television show "The Iron Chef" We supplied everything but the special toppings/ingredients. There were three judges that tasted the food. In this event we were paired up with the ΣAE fraternity. It was a lot of fun, and will definitely be back next fall.

Philanthropies are great way to get involved, raise money for important organizations, and get to know other people in the Greek community. Both of our events raised money for our philanthropy Casa.
